The Oil-rimmed Martini

Just had a very nice and unexpected email exchange with my new friend Richard. We were sharing culinary tidbits and places we’d both been. Seems his son used to work in Old Saybrook, CT, which is near Mystic and The Blue Squid, that I mentioned in an earlier post.

Our conversation led to comments about martini’s (his comments, not mine) and he shared this little tidbit with me about blue cheese-stuffed olives in a martini.

Richard’s introduction to blue cheese-stuffed olives was in a martini called an “Oil-rimmed Martini”, served down in Sarasota, FL many years ago. The oils in the blue cheese give it the oil rim.

Who knew?
